Cops to probe into Ranau school bullying case in viral video

THE Ranau district police headquarters is investigating a video that went viral on social media in a case of bullying involving secondary school students.

Ranau district police chief Simiun Lomudin confirmed his department received a report at 3.26pm on Friday about the viral video showing an alleged case of bullying involving students believed to have taken place at a secondary school in Ranau district.

“Police are conducting an investigation to ensure that legal action is taken,” he said in a statement today.

Simiun said the case is still under investigation and advised the public against speculating on the incident.

“Police also urge the public to be smart and responsible when using social media and to avoid making statements that can humiliate any individual,” he said.

He said members of the public with information about the incident can contact Ranau police to assist in the investigation.

Earlier, a 5:34s video showing several students being bullied by a group of other students went viral on WhatsApp and social media, drawing the ire of internet users. – Bernama, September 2, 2023.
