POLICE detained a jobless man for allegedly killing his 70-year-old father in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, on Saturday.
Petaling Jaya police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the suspect is believed to have committed the crime after being frequently reprimanded by the victim for being jobless and consuming alcohol.
“The body of the man in his 70s was later found by family members by the roadside of PJS 10/24 at about 2.15am and whose death was confirmed by medical staff from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre who were called to the scene.
“Acting on information, police arrested the suspect in his 40s on the same day at Jalan PJS 10/9A, Bandar Sunway at 9.10am,” he said today.
Fakhrudin said initial investigation showed the suspect and the victim often quarrelled, adding that the suspect has two criminal records related to breach of trust as well as possession of corrosive material, explosives and dangerous weapons.
He said police also seized a sand shovel and a vehicle believed to be used by the suspect to commit the crime.
