ONE of the passengers on board a boat that overturned yesterday in Pantai Teluk Batik, Seri Manjung, has died.

Nurulafiqah Abdullah Sani, 34, was reported to have died today in Seri Manjung Hospital.

Manjung district police chief Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said Nurulafiqah died at 4.58am.

“The police received a report today at 6.05am from the victim’s husband that his wife’s death had been confirmed by a doctor in Seri Manjung Hospital,” Nordin said in a statement today.

“The physical examination carried out by the nursing staff of Seri Manjung Hospital found no element of crime.”

A boat carrying nine people, including seven local tourists, capsized about 9m from the shore of Teluk Batik beach.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon in a statement said that two of the people required emergency treatment. 

A 17-year-old disabled teenager received cardiopulmonary resuscitation while Nurulafiqah was taken to Seri Manjung Hospital for treatment. – Bernama, August 29, 2023.
