COMMUNICATIONS and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil yesterday denied the claim that Malaysia will be granting citizenship to 54,000 Chinese nationals

Fahmi said the figure referred to the number of citizenship applications received in 2017 to 2022.

He said Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had already explained that only 45 people from China have been granted Malaysian citizenship since 2017.

“Even these were only given after the conditions under part III of the Federal Constitution relating to Citizenship Rules 1964 were met,” said Fahmi in a video on Facebook.

He urged people to verify their news sources and to stop slandering the government.

Earlier yesterday, Saifuddin refuted allegations that his ministry was in the process of granting Malaysian citizenship on a large scale to foreigners, especially those from China.

The National Registration Department has also denied claims that 54,000 Chinese nationals are in the process of becoming naturalised, supposedly to become DAP voters. – Bernama, August 27, 2023.

  • The idea that Chinese people are naturally drawn to a party that believes in democracy and the rule of law as DAP does is laughable. Have you seen what happened in Hong Kong? How Chinese policing has established itself on foreign soil? Stupid to even think it.
