Free shuttle bus services, 7,700 parking lots for Merdeka celebration

PEOPLE attending the National Day celebration on August 31 at Dataran Putrajaya are encouraged to use public transport to prevent traffic congestion.

Logistics and venue committee chairman Parang Abai@Thomas said Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) is providing 50 shuttle buses to provide free services from two locations – the Putrajaya Sentral Terminal (TPS) in Precinct 7 and Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC) in Precinct 5 to the venue.

Free shuttle bus services will be available from 4am to 2pm while the MRT Putrajaya Line will also start at 4 am that day.

The frequency rate is every 10 minutes during peak hours, which are 4am to 8.30am and 10.30am to 2pm, and every 20 minutes during normal hours.

A total of 2,590 parking spaces are available at three locations near the pick-up point of the free shuttle bus services; 7,652 parking spaces are available at the venue travelling in their own vehicles.

Police will be on duty to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Some roads will be closed from 5am to 11am starting tomorrow until Tuesday to make way for rehearsals.

The roads are Jalan Perdana from Bulatan Putra; Lebuh Wawasan to Lingkaran Gemilang 1; Jalan Pembangunan from Jalan Tun Abd Razak and Jalan Permodenan; Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah to Bulatan Putra; Lebuh Setia to Jalan Perdana; Jalan Perpaduan to Lingkaran Gemilang 1; Jalan Tun Hussein to Lebuh Bestari; and Lebuh Setia to Jalan Perdana

Several roads leading to Persiaran Perdana will also be closed. They are Lebuh Saujana; Lebuh Bestari; Jalan Kemerdekaan; Jalan P3F; Jalan P2K; Jalan P3C; Jalan P2S; Jalan P2W; Jalan P2P, Lebuh Setia; and Lebuh Saujana Intersection.

On the National Day, road diversions will be in effect from 5am to 11am or until the parade is over.

The affected roadsare Persiaran Perdana from Bulatan Putra; Lebuh Wawasan, Lebuh Saujana, and Lebuh Bestari to Persiaran Perdana; and Jalan Pembangunan from Jalan Tun Abd Razak and Jalan Permodenan.

Other road stretches  affected are Jalan Tun Abd Razak and Jalan Tuanku Abd Rahman to Lebuh Wawasan; Jalan Kemerdekaan, Jalan P3F, Jalan P2K, Jalan P3C, Jalan P2S, Jalan P2W, Jalan P2P, Lebuh Setia, Lebuh Sentosa, Lebuh Wadi Ehsan to Persiaran Perdana; and Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah to Dataran Putra; Jalan Perpaduan to Lingkaran Gemilang 1; Jalan Tun Hussein to Lebuh Bestari and the Persimpangan Lebuh Saujana Intersection.

Two temporary hawker sites will offer food at the parking lots in front of the Dorsett Hotel and the Energy Commission. There will also be food trucks in Jalan Kemerdekaan next to Menara Prisma and Jalan Lebuh Bestari.

A hundred 100 toilets and 15 medical camps will be set up. – Bernama, August 26, 2023.
