PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) secretary-general Hamzah Zainuddin said the freezing of his and his wife’s bank accounts was done because there was pressure and interference from the highest political leaders in Putrajaya.

“This freeze, which was later disseminated to the media, is a desperate effort by the government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to continue to pressure the leadership of PN which is gaining the trust of the people.

“It is also a continuous dirty tactic to create a bad perception of PN especially after the support of the majority of the people shifted to the coalition which won 146 out of 245 state assembly seats in the recent polls,” he posted on Facebook.

He also expects more political action to be taken against himself and PN leaders in the near future, including using the police to investigate him for criticising DAP during the state elections campaign.

“The tyranny of the Pakatan Harapan/ Barisan Nasional government will not stop my struggle.

“For the sake of the future of the country and the people, I will continue to fight against this tyrannical government.”

Hamzah said that he has submitted a letter of demand to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), its chief and the government.

“My lawyer are preparing the papers for the purpose of initiating court action against the MACC, its chief and government for dragging my name in a prosecution case that has nothing to do with me at all.”

He added that this political prosecution is similar to the case of PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, where MACC and the Attorney General’s Department were used to create a defamation suit against him.

“In the end, the Kuala Lumpur High Court quashed the four charges (against Muhyiddin) due to it being defective, no basis and not in conformity with the Code of Criminal Procedure.

“The judge also ruled that the prosecution was an abuse of court process.” –  August 24, 2023.
