ECONOMY Minister Rafizi Ramli said the cabinet has approved the progressive wage policy, with its details to be tabled with Budget 2024 in October.
He said the system is expected to take effect in April or May.
The government prioritises state-level development in the upcoming budget to bridge the economic development gap between states, he told reporters after the signing ceremony of the Executive Digital Leadership Programme in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said the states are divided into three categories – one for priority states (Sarawak, Sabah, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis, one for states that sustain their own economic development without much injection from the federal government (Penang, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur), and one for the rest (Perak, Johor, Negri Sembilan and Malacca).
Budget 2024 will be tabled in parliament on October 13. – Bernama, August 24, 2023.
