NATIONAL Day and Malaysia Day 2023 celebrations working committee secretary Mazlan Abd Mutalib said telecommunication service providers (telcos) have been instructed to boost internet speeds on August 31 in Putrajaya.

He said good internet access is crucial to ensure those on duty for the important national event can work smoothly.

“We do not want their duties hampered due to internet problems. Internet (connectivity and access) is a crucial element,” he told Bernama after surveying the National Day preparations at Dataran Putrajaya today.

He was told several telcos were installing telecommunication transmitters at Dataran Putrajaya and testing access speeds of their respective networks.

Mazlan, who is also Communications and Digital Ministry senior undersecretary (management), said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission would monitor the situation to ensure good connectivity on that day.

Mazlan said he was satisfied with logistical and technical preparations for the event.

He said on August 31, visitors to Dataran Putrajaya can enjoy free buses, free parking, 100 mobile toilets, 4,000 tiered seats, and over 100 food and drink stalls.

The theme for the National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 is “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan”, while the Malaysia Madani logo has been selected as the official emblem for this year’s celebration.

This will be the fifth year the National Day celebration is held in Putrajaya, with the previous four times in 2003, 2005, 2018 and 2019. – Bernama, August 24, 2023.
