THE Election Commission (EC) has set October 7 as polling day for the Pelangai state by-election in Pahang.

EC chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh said nomination and early voting for the by-election are on September 23 and October 3, respectively.

He announced this at a press conference after chairing a special meeting in Putrajaya today to decide the important dates for the by-election.

The Pelangai seat was vacated following the death of its incumbent Johari Harun, 53, who was killed in a plane crash near Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, on August 17.

Johari was also the state Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman. – Bernama, August 24, 2023.
