PERIKATAN Nasional state governments should emulate the Terengganu government’s move to use the same logo and theme as the federal government’s in their National Day celebrations.

Terengganu Pakatan Harapan chairman Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad said this while hailing Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar’s statement that National Day should be celebrated in unity regardless of political affiliation.

He said differences of opinion should be set aside to build a more prosperous country.

“We just held a general election nine months ago and polls in six states last week, and we will have several by-elections soon because of the deaths of two elected representatives.

“Have mercy on the people who are struggling with economic uncertainties and who have been physically and mentally worn out by the series of elections,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Yesterday, Samsuri said the Terengganu government would use the National Day logo and theme introduced at the federal level and not those proposed by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) youth wing.

PN youth chairman Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had previously proposed that the four states under the PN administration use a different National Day logo and theme for state-level celebrations.

He saud Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu would likely use an alternative logo and the theme “Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera” (Strong Consensus for a Prosperous Malaysia). – Bernama, August 21, 2023.
