ANY proposal to use a different logo and theme for National Day is aimed at promoting disunity, said National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang.

Aaron said such a proposal is a hindrance to the government’s efforts to ensure the community’s well-being.

He was referring to a statement by Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, who proposed the four states under PN use a different National Day logo and theme for the celebrations.

“This is closely related to the cooperation, tolerance and relations between the federal government and the states, which must be dealt with carefully.

“Leaders at every level should catalyse the propagation and strengthening of unity, and ensure good governance at the federal and state levels through socio-political and economic boundaries,” he said.

Fadhli reportedly said Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, which are under PN, will likely use the alternate National Day logo and theme (Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera) launched by PN Youth yesterday.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil earlier announced “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” theme for National Day and Malaysia Day.

Aaron said the theme, launched on May 27, was to foster a spirit of unity and patriotism and instil deep love for the nation.

Aaron urged everyone to promote national unity and cooperate in efforts to strengthen unity.

“Let us not be the cause of division or misunderstanding among the people. It is not a question of who is weak or strong and who is good or bad, but more about working together regardless of background or political beliefs,” he said. – Bernama, August 20, 2023.
