DNA matching to determine the identities of nine more victims who died in the plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, was completed last night, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said.

“The DNA tests to confirm the identities of the victims have been completed and we will hand over all the bodies to the next of kin today,” he told the media at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital mortuary this morning.

He said that all victims were identified by matching fingerprints, DNA and dental records.

“I can confirm there are no more victims to be identified,” he said.

He also said next-of-kin would need to lodge a police report as part of the process for the bodies to be released.

Hussein said the Selangor Islamic Religious Department would take the remains to a nearby mosque.

“After that, arrangements will be made to proceed to the cemeteries that have been agreed upon by the families concerned,” he said.

At 4pm yesterday, Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Saleh, a p-hailing rider who died in the crash, was buried at the Masjid Al-Huda Muslim cemetery in Kampung Jerung, Sungai Petani, Kedah.
