THE Election Commission (EC) will be notified soon of the vacancy for the Pelangai state seat in Pahang following the death of the incumbent Johari Harun in an aircraft crash yesterday.

Pahang Assembly Speaker Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin said this last night at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital.

“Let’s settle the funeral arrangements for the deceased first,” he said.

Johari, 53, who was also Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman, was one of the 10 people who died when a plane crashed into a highway near Bandar Elmina.

Sharkar said prior to the crash, Johari had attended a meeting with Pahang Chief Minister Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail in Langkawi. – Bernama, August 18, 2023.
