AT least three people are believed dead after a light aircraft crashed on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway near Bandar Elmina this afternoon.

The dead were said to be the pilot, a passenger and a motorcyclist.

Shah Alam district police chief Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim confirmed the incident.

Initial checks showed the plane was en route to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport from Langkawi.

The craft is a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) with the registration number N28JV.

China Press said the craft plummeted to the ground and exploded upon impact. Debris from the plane struck the motorcyclist.

X user @azmilwhoruns, who was near the scene, said all roads leading to Elmina West are closed.

“On the way to a meeting in Sime Darby. All roads leading to Elmina West are closed. Private jet crash. Three passengers. A motorcyclist became a victim,” he posted

This is not the first time a highway plane crash has killed someone outside the craft. In 1989, a boy was killed when a police air unit plane crashed into the car he was in on Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang. – August 17, 2023.
