NEGRI Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun said the appointment of 10 executive councillors for the state would be finalised as soon as possible after discussions with Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

Aminuddin said discussions could be held as early as tomorrow but what was certain is that there would be a blend of old and new faces.

“The number of exco will not exceed 10, as stated in the constitution. We need to get the blessings of the respective party leaderships to avoid any issues that might crop up later,” he told reporters after his swearing-in today.

Aminuddin, however, urged all state assemblymen to continue serving their respective constituencies for now.

He added that the state assembly Speaker Zulkefly Mohamad Omar would continue to carry out his duties until the oath-taking ceremony for exco members was held.

The Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, had decreed that the peace and harmony of the state could not be compromised for personal gains.

During his oath-taking, Aminuddin had thanked Tuanku Muhriz for the advice offered to him.

“I pledge to carry out my duties to administer the state responsibly and uphold the trust and confidence vested in me. I also pledge my loyalty and full support for Tuanku.

“The close association between the people and the royal institution has been key to the smooth administration of the state. I pledge to administer the state and ensure the progress of the people and development of the state,” he said.

The recent state elections saw the PH and BN coalition retain Negri Sembilan after winning 31 seats against PN’s five.
