SCHOOLS across the country, including private ones, will host Rukun Negara Club to inculcate a spirit of unity among youth, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
Fadhlina said Rukun Negara Club plays an important role in introducing the five principles to the younger generation.
She said the club, which nearly 7,000 schools currently host nationwide, should be expanded so students can understand and appreciate the Rukun Negara philosophy.
“The strength of this country is not only the physical aspect, but the resilience of its people’s soul and spirit. This inner self should be nurtured through unity, and Rukun Negara should be a national ideology that uplifts … our children.
“Rukun Negara Club will be the leader of unity in schools. We will expand it. Information will be provided from time to time. It aims to ensure the unity programme runs in line with the wishes of the Education Ministry and the National Unity Ministry,” she said.
Fadhlina said this at the launch of the 2023 Rukun Negara Exploratory programme at Seri Bintang Complex in Kuala Lumpur today.
National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang, who was also present at the ceremony, said he hopes private schools will help expand Rukun Negara Club.
“There are already 6,849 Rukun Negara Clubs; we hope they will be established in all schools. We hope private schools will also participate in making this unity programme a success,” he said. – Bernama, August 14, 2023.
