Perikatan still has chance at Putrajaya, says Hadi

A CHANGE of federal government is possible following the outcome of yesterday’s six state elections, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said.

Hadi said the change could take place even though PN won only three of the six states.

He said the results in the state elections showed that support was declining for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) unity government.

The rejection of the unity government can also be seen in the low voter turnout, which is a form of protest, he said.

“Even if PN hasn’t won all six states, there could be changes. It’s true that PN didn’t win Negri Sembilan, Selangor and Penang, but we managed to win many new seats (in Penang and Selangor).” he said in a press conference at Masjid Rusila, Terengganu, last night.

“This means that support for PH is declining,”

In the state elections, PH-BN coalition retained Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang while PN made almost a clean sweep in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu. PN also made major inroads in the three PH-BN held states.

At the federal level, Anwar Ibrahim has the backing of 148 MPs, which allows him to lead the unity government.

Last night, PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin urged Anwar and deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down following their coalitions’ less-than-impressive performance in the state polls. – August 13, 2023.

  • This greedy old man need to reminded of the utter failure of the previous 2 governments. He was a dsimal failure as Envoy to Middle East wit the status of a Minister. He did absolutely nothing. Didn't even bother to attend Parliament sessions most of the time. Does Islam need defending from a lazy, corrupt (remember the Sarawak Report case?), greedy for power but totally incompetent politician? He is nothing but a fraud and soon the lies of PN politicians will be exposed bare. I think he has distorted truths in such a way as to serve his personal needs and greed
