Terengganu logs highest voter turnout at 75%

TERENGGANU recorded the highest voter turnout, at 74.79%, among the six states that held elections yesterday.

Election Commission (EC) chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh said Kedah logged a voter turnout of 73.86%, Penang (72.67%), Selangor (72%), Negei Sembilan (68.35%) and Kelantan (60.96%).

“The voting percentage includes regular voters, early voters and postal voters,” he said in a statement today.

The Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election saw a voter turnout of 73.34%, he said.

PAS made a clean sweep in Terengganu, winning all 32 seats.

In Kedah, Perikatan Nasional (PN) captured 33 of the 36 seats, leaving Pakatan Harapan (PH) with three. In Kelantan, PAS took 43 of the 45 seats and Barisan Nasional (BN) and PH, one each.

PH-BN won 29 of the 40 seats in Penang and 32 of the 56 seats in Selangor.

In Negri Sembilan, PH-BN won 31 of the 36 seats.

In the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election, PAS won the seat via Ahmad Amzad Hashim, who trounced PH candidate Azan Ismail by a majority of 47,266 votes. – Bernama, August 13, 2023.
