PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim congratulated the unity coalition of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in retaining the three states of Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang.
The PH chairman also extended his well wishes to the opposition Perikatan Nasional (PN) for their victory in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, saying the results were what the people voted for.
“These (the election results) are the decision of the people.
“As part of democracy, we have to respect the people’s decision and if there are any issues, the protest will be made through legal channels and the regulations set by the Election Commission,” Anwar told a press conference at the unity government secretariat gathering at World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.
It was status quo for PH-BN and PN, who retained their respective states.
Meanwhile, Anwar said the focus of the unity government now will be on raising the living standards of Malaysians.
“The federal government will continue to remain strong after this state polls and we will continue to work hard to serve the people in accordance with the Malaysia Madani concept.
“God willing, from Monday we will continue to work not as usual, but more diligent and hardworking so that Malaysia creates more success,” he said. – August 12, 2023.
