MMEA finds body of missing Indonesian boat skipper


The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency says the body of an Indonesian boat skipper identified as Kaharudin Kolah was handed over to the police for further action. – Facebook pic, August 12, 2023.

THE body of a man believed to be an Indonesian boat skipper was found floating in the waters of Tanjung Tuan, Negri Sembilan, at about 7.30am today.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Malacca and Negri Sembilan director Captain  Iskandar Ishak said the body was found 0.5 nautical miles south of Tanjung Tuan by local fishermen, who then informed the agency.

The body was identified as Kaharudin Kolah,” also known as Pak Lang, 62, he said in a statement today.

He said the body of the Indonesian skipper was identified by a survivor of the boat which capsized after colliding with an MMEA boat in an attempt to escape inspection last Wednesday morning.

“The victim was identified from the watch and the clothes he was wearing,” he said, adding that the body was brought back to the Maritime jetty and handed over to the police for further action. – Bernama, August 12, 2023.
