ALL 3,190 polling centres for the six states elections and 41 others for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election, which opened from 8am today, closed at 6pm.
The Election Commission (EC) pegged voter turnout at 70%.
Once the voting centres closed, all the ballot boxes were taken to the 186 vote tallying centres. The EC will announce the official results tonight.
Voting had begun slowly early in the day before eventually picking up later in the day.
A total of 9.67 million voters were eligible to vote in the six state elections today, which saw 570 candidates contesting a total of 245 seats.
The Penang assembly has 40 seats, Selangor (56), Negri Sembilan (36), Kedah (36), Terengganu (32) and Kelantan (45).
The 14-day election campaign period, which began on July 29, ended at 11.59pm last night.

11.24pm: PN’s Wan Dzahanurin Ahmad wins the Sungai Kandis seat by just 167 votes, defeating PH’s Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, who got 28,759 votes. Muda’s Afriena Shaqira receives 1,341 votes.
11.17pm: Caretaker Negri Sembilan MB Aminuddin Harun retains Sikamat seat, defeating PN’s Ahmad Raihan Muhamad Hilal by 2,662 votes.
11.13pm: PN’s Hilman Idham wins Gombak Setia seat in Selangor with 30,299 votes, beating BN’s Megat Zulkarnain Omardin by just 58 votes. Independent Mohamed Salim Mohamed Ali gets 1,076 votes.
11.10pm: Noh Omar’s daughter Nurul Noh Omar wins the Permatang seat for PN, defeating PH’s Mohd Yahya Mat Sahri by a 1,728-vote majority.
11.07pm: PN’s Afif Bahardin clinches Taman Medan seat with a 30-vote majority against PH’s Ahmad Akhir Pawan Chik. Afif received 22,316 votes while Akhir got 22,286.
10.47pm: PH-BN wins two-thirds majority in Negri Sembilan.
10.42pm: (Unofficial) PN’s Afif Bahardin wins the Taman Medan seat in Selangor by 30 votes.
10.35pm: Caretaker Selangor MB Amirudin Shari retains Sungai Tua seat in Selangor, defeating two others.
10.28pm: PN election director Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor retains Jeneri seat in Kedah, defeating BN’s Muhamad Khizri Abu Kassim.
10.10pm: EC says PN has formed simple-majority governments in Terengganu and Kelantan.
10.07pm: PN’s Rina Harun trails PH’s Danial Al-Rashid Haron Aminar Rashid by 24,438 votes to 27,434 for the Batu Tiga seat in Selangor. Muda is in third place with 1,652 votes.
9.46pm: PN’s Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar retains Ru Rendang, Terengganu seat after garnering 20,927 votes to defeat PH’s Suhaimi Sulaiman (3,641).
