TWO former DAP members contesting as Independents in the Penang elections have pledged to back the unity government and Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s leadership if they are elected.
In a joint press conference, Bagan Dalam candidate Satees Muniandy and Perai candidate David Marshel dispelled talk they would back Perikatan Nasional (PN).
“We are not supporting any other Penang assemblyman, including from PN, as the next chief minister. We also object to any motion tabled to amend the Penang Constitution’s two-term limit for the chief minister’s post,” Satees said.
Satees and David signed an “Aku Janji” to underscore these pledges.
Satees, who is Bagan Dalam incumbent, and David, a former Seberang Perai Municipal Council member, left DAP several days before nomination on July 29. – Bernama, August 9, 2023.
