THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) may request Interpol’s assistance to track down Adlan Berhan, the son-in-law of former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, its chief commissioner Azam Baki said.

He said another individual, lawyer Mansoor Saat, has also fled the country after realising he had been placed on the MACC “wanted list”.

The anti-graft agency earlier said the two men had left the country on May 17 and 21 respectively and there was no record of them returning.

“We suspect Adlan is in a particular country but we cannot disclose which country it is,” Azam told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.

He said the two were sought in order for “charges to be laid”.

“We are also working with the police and the Immigration Department to freeze Adlan’s passport,” he added.

Azam said 48 year-old Adlan, who is married to Muhyiddin’s second child Nabilah, and the 69-year-old Mansoor had repeatedly ignored notices sent to them to present themselves at the MACC office to have their statements taken in relation an ongoing investigation.

The two are wanted to assist in MACC’s probe into a project involving the registration, recruitment and storage of foreign worker biometric data at a ministry.

Azam said the MACC was forced on August 7 to go to the press to issue a notice after both men failed to present themselves at its office.

It has now requested the police to hunt them down and the Immigration Department to freeze their passports.

Adlan’s last known address is Lot 65, Sunway Kiara Hills, Jalan 32/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.

Mansoor, 69, has a last known address at 5, Jalan SS19/1C, Subang Jaya, Selangor.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin, who is Bersatu president, declined to comment on the matter when asked by reporters.

He had, however, previously denied any involvement in the award of a lucrative contract allegedly linking Adlan to the Home Ministry.

The Pagoh MP also said he was never involved in the awarding of the National Integrated Immigration System contract to Iris Corporation Bhd for which there had been an open tender. – August 9, 2023.
