EDUCATION Minister Fadhlina Sidek said her ministry would launch special schools for children from poor families by next year.

The school, as proposed by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim yesterday, would ensure poor students enjoyed a higher standard of education.

“We will provide updates as we want to ensure these (special) schools are ready to operate,” she told reporters after launching a school-in-hospital programme at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar, Kedah, Free Malaysia Today reported

Yesterday, Anwar said the government would introduce a new type of school for children from poor families to ensure they did not get left behind in their studies.

The school would be similar to a secondary boarding school. – August 6, 2023.
