CHOW Kon Yeow will serve a full term as Penang chief minister if the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional (BN) alliance emerges as the victor in the state elections, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said.
He also brushed off talk of a plan to unseat Chow as Penang DAP chief when the state chapter holds its election next year.
Loke said these claims were made to cause confusion among the public by individuals who were disappointed after not being fielded by the party for the state polls.
“If we form the state government, Chow will be appointed as chief minister and we will ensure PH and BN assemblymen will support him throughout the term.
“This is DAP’s stand and commitment, so don’t listen to those false allegations. They do not represent DAP’s stand,” he was quoted as saying by Malay-language tabloid Harian Metro today.
Loke was commenting on claims by former Seberang Perai city councillor David Marshel who said there are plans to oust Chow as Penang DAP chief when party polls take place next year.
