KELANTAN Barisan Nasional (BN) is banking on winning 16 seats in the August 12 state elections.

State BN secretary Md Alwi Che Ahmad said the seats included eight that were won in the 2018 general election.

“Through the Pakatan Harapan(PH)-Barisan Nasional pact, BN is confident of retaining the eight seats and winning the other eight from PAS.

“We hope that BN and PH can bring about change in Kelantan,” he told a press conference at the Kelantan Umno Building in Kota Baru today.

Apart from the 16 seats, Alwi said, the PH-BN pact is also hoping to win another seven seats, to secure enough majority to form the state government.

The state elections will see BN contesting 31 seats and PH (14), while PAS is fielding candidates in all 45 constituencies. – Bernama, August 2, 2023.
