THE new system for the expatriate employment pass process, Xpats Gateway can shorten the approval time and standardise procedures thus increasing the efficiency of the issuance of the pass.

Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) deputy director-general Dr Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah said Xpats Gateway leveraged digital technology by uniting all approving agencies (AP) and regulatory agencies (AKS) under one integrated single window platform.

“Now, all AP and AKS can process and approve support letters for expatriate employment pass applications more transparently through the Xpats Gateway online system as early as five working days”, she said in a statement today.

Xpats Gateway, launched on June 15, is the result of innovation synergy between the government and the Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (Pemudah) in improving the efficiency of expatriate pass issuance under the supervision of the Special Task Force on Agency Reform (Star) chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government.

According to a statement, MPC has facilitated the initiative with strategic collaboration, involving more than 20 government agencies in ensuring the implementation of this initiative will transform the governance of high-impact initiatives.

The initiative also reflects the government’s commitment in increasing its transparency and efficiency as one of strategies to empower the Madani Economy, she said.

Mazrina said MPC is always open to work with ministries and agencies in improving governance and increasing government efficiency to drive national productivity.

“According to the International Institute for Management Development, World Competitiveness Ranking (WCR) reported that Malaysia reached the 29th position for the Government Efficiency indicator this year compared to the 38th position in the previous year,” she added. – Bernama, August 1, 2023.
