HOME Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will continue with a series of disclosures on the issue of rare earths mining in Keda despite having received a legal notice from caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to cease and desist.
He said there were a number of questions he had raised which had yet to be answered by Sanusi.
“For example, I said two personalities who happened to be Chinese nationals (were in Malaysia) with the facilitation of the menteri besar and the home minister at the time.
“The record shows that they were employed by Menteri Besar Kedah Incorporated (MBI). He has to answer this first,” he said in Bukit Mertajam yesterday.
Last Friday, Saifuddin confirmed he had received a legal notice from Sanusi on the matter. The minister said he would see Sanusi in court.
Meanwhile, Saifuddin, who is the Pakatan Harapan secretary-general, told Penang residents, who will vote on August 12, to stick with his coalition.
“This is not an experiment. Think of the development that the Penang government has brought to the state in the last 15 years. It is a government that also takes care of the welfare of the people, reassures foreign investors and maintains racial harmony,” he said.
Saifuddin was in Seberang Jaya, which will see a straight fight between Johari Kassim (PH) and Izhar Shah Arif Shah (Perikatan Nasional) for the seat.
In 2018, Dr Afif Bahardin of PKR won the state seat with 16,014 votes, beating Barisan Nasional’s Abu Bakar Sidekh Zainul Abidin, who got 8,593 votes, and PAS’ Ahmad Rafaei Rashid (5,540). – Bernama, August 1, 2023.
