ALL issues related to Umno’s alleged six-year suspension of Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Shahelmey Yahya will be resolved internally, said Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid, who is also deputy prime minister, said Umno considers Shahelmey, who is Putatan MP and Tanjung Keramat assemblyman, a representative of the unity government.
“In the unity government, we are governed by a spirit of unity and therefore, all issues will be discussed and resolved internally,” he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of Asia Pacific Youth Summit 4.0 in Kota Kinabalu today.
When asked to comment on Shahelmey’s statement that he had yet to receive the letter of his alleged suspension, Zahid said: “We do it internally.”
On March 18, Umno Liaison Committee chairman Bung Moktar Radin confirmed Shahelmey would be suspended from Umno for six years, but on Wednesday, Shahelmey claimed he had not received a letter of suspension.
Shahelmy’s alleged suspension was following an announcement on January 7 by Bung Moktar that Sabah Umno and Barisan Nasional would withdraw their support for Hajiji Mohd Noor as Sabah chief minister, but Shahelmey and four other assemblymen pledged their support for Hajiji, who is Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman. – Bernama, July 30, 2023.
