THE Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) is finalising the New Industrial Master Plan (Nimp) 2030, which is expected to be launched by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the end of August.

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said Nimp 2030 would be a comprehensive framework covering the mission, priorities and action plan to transform Malaysia’s industrial sector.

“Discussions (on the plan) until now are the most comprehensive that we have ever done because they involve new industries and other ministries.

“It (Nimp 2030) will be a part of the industrial transformation that will hopefully help grow the economy in line with the established benchmarks,” he said in a press conference after officiating Miti Day 2023 Tasek Gelugor today.

Tengku Zafrul said bilateral discussions with industry players are needed to complete Nimp 2030.

He said the industrial transformation is aimed at creating new wealth sources that will increase economic complexity, spur sustainable economic growth, create high-quality job opportunities and improve living standards.

Commenting on Miti Day 2023, themed “Perkasa Industri, Maju Ekonomi”, Tengku Zafrul said it features a Miti Day career exploration programme, which features 2,500 job opportunities for youth from 16 foreign and local companies.

“Thirty local and foreign companies are participating in this Miti Day. We are targeting 7,000 visitors from around Tasek Gelugor,” he said. – Bernama, July 30, 2023.
