Syed Saddiq accuses Zahid of normalising corruption

MUDA president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman today chided Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for offering “sweeteners” (allocations) in return for votes in the state elections.

“Just the normalisation of corruption,” he said in a tweet.

He was referring to a speech Zahid made to voters in Terengganu yesterday.

The Umno president, who is also rural and regional development minister, announced an additional grant of RM100,000 for Terengganu youth. 

Zahid also announced RM250,000 in aid for the Terengganu Malaysia Youth Council and RM200,000 for a motoring association in the state. 

He said the amount may be increased depending on the performance of youth in the Terengganu elections on August 12. 

Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional are trying to wrest the state from Perikatan Nasional. – July 29, 2023.
