PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) has announced its candidates for the elections in Terengganu, Kelantan and Negri Sembilan on August 12.
PN will be contesting all seats in the three states.
In Terengganu, state PAS Commissioner Husain Awang announced the names of 32 candidates, 27 of them from PAS and five from Bersatu.
Among the seats in focus are Ru Rendang and Batu Buruk, which will be defended by caretaker menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi, respectively. Khalil is the son of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
PAS will be fielding a female candidate, Zuraida Md Noor, in Ladang.
Kuala Terengganu PN communication head Ahmad Amzad Hashim was announced as the candidate for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election, which will take place simultaneously with the state polls.
Husain said PN candidates will be standing on the PAS logo in Terengganu.
In Kelantan, state PN chairman Ahmad Yakob unveiled 45 PN candidates, 39 from PAS and six from Bersatu.
Among them are five new faces who are lawyers. They are Nik Asma’ Baharum Nik Abdullah for Chempaka, Zameri Mat Nawang (Jelawat), Zubir Abu Bakar (Mengkebang), Ahmad Zakhran Mat Noor (Kemuning) and Wan Rohimi Wan Daud (Melor).
Kelantan PN will be fielding 23 new faces in total. There are two female candidates, Rohani Ibrahim (Tanjong Mas) and Nor Asilah Mohamed Zin (Limbongan).
In Negri Sembilan, state PN chairman Ahmad Faizal Azumu announced the candidates for 34 of the 36 state seats .
Some of the names that stood out are former deputy communications and multimedia minister Eddin Syazlee Shith, who will contest the Juasseh seat, and Negri Sembilan PN youth chief Danni Rais (Klawang).
State PAS commissioner Rafiei Mustapha is the Pilah candidate.
The candidates for Jeram and Sri Tanjung will be announced today. β Bernama, July 28, 2023.
