DAP has named 15 candidates for the Selangor elections, with six of them being new faces. 

The party’s secretary-general Anthony Loke said the six new candidates will be fielded in the state seats of Teratai, Balakong, Bandar Baru Klang, Kota Kemuning, Banting and Sungai Pelek. 

Yew Jia Haur will replace Bryan Lai Wai Chong in the Teratai state seat. Lai left DAP in 2021 to join Warisan. 

Ong Chun Wei has been named as the candidate for the Balakong seat, whose incumbent, Wong Siew Ki, was moved to Seri Kembangan. 

Quah Perng Fei will replace Bandar Baru Klang incumbent Teng Chang Kim.

Forty-eight-year-old Papparaidu Veraman, who is also the younger brother of Klang lawmaker Ganabatirau Vereman, will replace Lau Weng San in Banting. 

Loke said Lau will be proposed as the speaker for the Selangor assembly, should Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional retain the state. 

Ganabatirau, who won the Kota Kemuning state seat in the 2018 polls, will be replaced by Preakas Sampunathan. 

Lwi Kian Keong is another new candidate, who will contest in Sungai Pelek. He replaces former DAP veteran Ronnie Liu, who left the party last month. 

Nine incumbents will defend their seats, while Wong was given a new constituency in Seri Kembangan.

The other eight who will defend their seats are Ng Suee Lim (Sekinchan), Lee Kee Hiong (Kuala Kubu Baru), Ng Sze Han (Kinrara), Michelle Ng Mei Sze (Subang Jaya), Rajiv Rishyakaran (Bukit Gasing), Lim Yi Wei (Kampung Tunku), Jamaliah Jamaluddin (Bandar Utama) and Leong Tuck Chee (Pandamaran).

Loke said former Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah will be proposed as the next Port Klang Authority Chairman, while Teng is retiring. 

In total, DAP named 10 male and five female candidates in Selangor, with 10 of them aged below 40.
