DOMESTIC Trade and Cost of Living Minister Salahuddin Ayub died today after failing to recover from brain haemorrhage, his family announced today.
They said he passed away at 9.23pm. He was 61.
Earlier today his daughter said that Salahuddin, who underwent surgery for brain haemorrhage yesterday, was still in intensive care and being closely monitored by the medical team at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star.
“I also ask everyone to continue to pray for the improvement of my father’s condition,” said Siti Fatihah in a statement earlier today.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa meanwhile had said Salahuddin, who was also Amanah deputy president, was stable but in critical condition after successfully undergoing the surgery.
Salahuddin, who is Pulai member of parliament, was rushed to the hospital at about 10pm on Friday after complaining of nausea and vomiting.
He leaves behind a wife and six children.
Meanwhile, his aide Syakirin Husnal said in a statement that Salahuddin’s remains will be taken to his mother’s house in Kampung Serkat (Kopi Tenggek), Tanjung Piai, Johor.
He said the ministry will be releasing further information regarding the funeral later.
