A RECENT survey among Selangor voters found a massive 70% support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership and Pakatan Harapan, reported The Star Online.
The survey by Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE) found 73.4% of respondents look favourably upon Anwar, and 74% of respondents support PH and Barisan Nasional for the state polls.
The survey also found Perikatan Nasional received a 40.5% score in respondents’ positive perception.
Respondents comprised 1,693 people from across Selangor’s 56 voting districts. The survey was done from May 12 to 15.
IDE is a state government-backed think tank.
Its chairman Mohammad Redzuan Othman said 26.3% of respondents believe Anwar is capable of bringing the Malaysia Madani concept and the country to greater heights.
Another 16.9% believe Anwar is capable of uniting the races.
The survey found 16.1% of respondents think Anwar is capable of combating corruption and abuse of power, while 14.1% believe he can solve the cost of living crisis.
Redzuan said Anwar’s popularity has improved, especially among youth, following his various engagements in Selangor, particularly at local universities.
“The advantage is that Selangor is near Putrajaya, so Anwar could hold more programmes here compared with in other states,” he was quoted as saying. – July 20, 2023.
