MUHAMMAD Sanusi Md Nor’s honorary military title should be revoked after his insult to the Selangor sultan, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.

Saifuddin, who is the PKR secretary-general, said the sultan was the captain-in-chief of the navy while Sanusi was appointed an honorary first admiral of the navy volunteer reserve in 2021.

“Sanusi has an honorary (rank); he is not in the navy, but he has an honorary (rank). The Selangor sultan is its chief,” he was reported as saying in a ceramah in Selangor last night.

“He has insulted His Majesty so I believe it is time for the Armed Forces Council to review Sanusi’s honorary privileges; perhaps it’s time to revoke it.

“Revoke it, for disrespecting the Selangor sultan.”

On Tuesday, the Perikatan Nasional man and caretaker Kedah menteri besar, was charged with sedition over his remarks about the Selangor ruler and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. – July 20, 2023.
