FELDA Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGV) chief executive officer Zakaria Arshad arrived at the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission(MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya at 2.45pm today with a stack of documents said to be on FGV’s dealings.

“I was called in by MACC, but I was ready to meet them,” he told reporters.

“I want to hand these documents to MACC on what I had disclosed before.”

Zakaria said he would explain to MACC on several allegedly irregular deals in FGV.

“I will answer when they ask,” he said when asked if he will also give a statement on the business dealings between Safitex and Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd (DOP).

Zakaria and FGV group chief financial officer Ahmad Tifli Mohd Talha were ordered to go on indefinite leave yesterday.

Zakaria has denied any wrongdoing and had refused to resign as ordered by chairman Isa Samad earlier.

In an interview with Star Biz yesterday, Zakaria said he could not go on working in FGV given the circumstances.

He said shareholders had to decide whether to retain either him or FGV chairman Isa Samad.

Zakaria had called on MACC to investigate FGV over allegations of improprieties in the awarding of contracts.

“On paper, everything is above board. I invite the MACC to investigate… who’s behind all the deals, who are the people we’re giving contracts to, which companies and why only these companies get contracts,” said Zakaria

Zakaria is on leave pending an internal audit of transactions between Afghan company Safitex and FGV subsidiary DOP.

Zakaria has denied any wrongdoing and had called on the MACC to investigate FGV, prompting Felda chairman Isa Samad to respond with a press conference offering MACC his full cooperation should ithe anti-graft agency decide to comply with Zakaria’s wishes. – June 7, 2017.
