PAS leader calls sedition charges against Sanusi ‘a lesson to all’

SEDITION charges facing caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor should serve as a lesson to all Malaysians, a PAS leader said.

PAS Central Committee member Awang Hashim said everyone should learn from the case.

“He went overboard; it’s normal and he has apologised, but we have the law and the legal process. It is a lesson to all of us, not (only) for Sanusi.

“We now leave it to the legal process… we (are at the court) to lend support,” he said at the Selayang court complex in Selangor, today.

The mood at the court compound was calm. Riot police were at the site to monitor the situation.

The press had arrived as early as 7am to cover the case.

Sanusi earlier pleaded not guilty to two charges of sedition in the sessions court. He is accused of fomenting discontent or disaffection among the subjects of the Selangor ruler as well as the king.– Bernama, July 18, 2023.

  • The court process is one thing. The main issue here is the royal institution is now unlikely in the near future to approve of anyone so rude and so crude to become a menteri besar. He is an embarrassment to the state and should never have been allowed to represent a peaceful and beautiful state like Kedah.
