PERIKATAN Nasional election director Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor today said that the federal government has got his TikTok account suspended.
Speaking at a ceramah in Baling last night, the caretaker Kedah menteri besar said the move to stop him from talking to the people in the lead-up to the August 12 state elections.
He said the TikTok accounts of several other PN leaders were also blocked.
“When I tried to check my TiKTok account, I couldn’t find it all. The account has been blocked and I have no access to it,” he said.
“This means I am unable to communicate with my 5.2 million followers. I am unable to defend myself against the attacks made against me.
“They will continue to attack me and PAS and PN will have no media to defend ourselves,” he said.
He hit out at the federal government for curtailing his freedom of expression.
“This is just like North Korea, no media freedom at all. This is what the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional administration is like,” he said.
A video clip of his speech is going viral on social media.
The Malaysian Insight is trying to reach TikTok, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, and Communications and Digital minister Fahmi Fadzil for comment.
Fahmi had recently warned TikTok to work with the government to oversee content on the platform.
Sanusi is under police investigation for remarks touching the issues of race, religion and royalty. – June 17, 2023.
