THE seats contested by Bersatu in Selangor in the 2018 general election and another “one or two” seats from Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be allocated to Umno, state PH chief Amirudin Shari said.
Amirudin said the two seats were being given up in the spirit of unity. He did not state which seats.
“PH will contest more than 40 seats. Definitely, we have to give in the spirit of unity. I am not in a position to answer this. The chairman of the unity government coalition will announce it (the list of candidates).
“We gave up what we considered for each party before in the 14th general election. Definitely, the seats won by Bersatu when it contested under the PKR banner,” he said during an interview on the BFM The Breakfast Grille show this morning.
In the 2018 general election, Bersatu, then a PH component party, contested seven state seats in Selangor and won four.
Prior to the 56-seat Selangor assembly’s dissolution, PKR had 19 seats, DAP (15), and Amanah (6).
Barisan Nasional had five while Bersatu had four, PAS (1), Pejuang (2), Parti Bangsa Malaysia (2) and Warisan (1). – July 14, 2023.
