YOUTH-BASED party Muda today announced its first batch of candidates for the upcoming state elections, which included three women – Thanusha Ramanieswaran, Saiyidah Izzati Nur Razak Maideen, and Melanie Ting Yi-Hlin.
Thanusha, 25, is Muda’s central executive committee member, a teacher by profession.
She will be fielded as a contestant for the Sentosa seat.
Syaidiyah, 35, a lawyer, will be Muda’s candidate for the Batu Tiga seat.
The Shah Alam native is also Muda’s deputy of education and innovation for the Selangor state executive committee.
Melanie Ting Yi-Hlin, 23, is a law graduate.
She is contesting the Bukit Antarabangsa seat, currently held by former Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The party’s sole male candidate is its secretary-general Amir Abdul Hadi, who will contest the Sri Serdang seat.
Party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said these four are capable candidates and called voters to give them a chance.
“They are young, talented and their hearts are in service,” he said.
“They don’t just represent different communities in terms of background. They are multiracial and above and beyond that, I think their hearts are in service.
“In a political situation where it is divided into two giant political blocs, we hope the people will give these candidates the opportunity to serve so that we can move Malaysia forward,” the Muar lawmaker added.
Syed Saddiq said they will announce the next batch of candidates sometime next week. – July 13, 2023.
