BARISAN Nasional (BN) will contest “slightly more than 100 seats” in the state elections, said its chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The deputy prime minister said the official announcement of BN candidates would be made on July 21.
“The seat distribution is complete. God willing, we will announce the candidates according to the constituencies we agreed upon. On that day, appointment letters will be handed out.”
He told reporters this after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the South East Johor Development Authority and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute in Putrajaya today.
The Election Commission has announced Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah will go to the polls on August 12, with nominations on July 29 and early voting on August 8.
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said his party was not given many seats for the state polls, and that most Amanah candidates will defend their incumbency. – Bernama, July 13, 2023.
