SELANGOR Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Amirudin Shari said he is optimistic the bloc can win at least 33 of the 56 state seats at the August 12 polls.

He said the 33 constituencies are safe seats for PH and Barisan Nasional (BN), which will let the coalitions form the state government next term.

“I looked at the data and did a survey… God willing, so far we have 33 safe seats and can form the state government with a simple majority,” he said in his speech during Jelajah Madani DUN at Bukit Melawati tonight.

“That is not counting the seven seats we won that are considered marginal as we won them with under 2,000 votes. With the seven seats, PH and BN will be able to form a state government with 40 seats and a two-thirds’ victory,” he said.

Amirudin urged the PH-BN machinery to work harder until polling day to bring the pact to victory.

During the 2018 general election, PH dominated Selangor with 51 seats, while BN won four seats and PAS won one.

Before the assembly was dissolved, PH held 40 seats (PKR: 19, DAP: 15, Amanah: 6), BN held five, Bersatu held four, Parti Bangsa Malaysia held two, and PAS, Pejuang, Warisan and an Independent held one each.
