NEWLY joined PAS member Annuar Musa will not be contesting in the Kelantan elections as the party thinks he would be more suited to a federal role, party president Abdul Hadi Awang said.

Hadi was reported by Sinar Harian as saying Annuar, who is former Umno secretary-general, has no intention to contest in the state polls.

“His position will be decided by the state party leadership. However, we have agreed that he would be more suited to a larger role at the national level as he is a prominent figure,” the Marang MP was quoted saying by the Malay daily.

Annuar was sacked by Umno after the general election last year for working against the party’s interests.

Annuar, who founded Muafakat Nasional in 2019, then joined PAS.

He had said he should be considered the last choice as a PAS candidate in the Kelantan polls as his fight is for religion and a Malay nation. – July 9, 2023.
