THE Communication and Digital Ministry and the Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) will take immediate action to ensure better connectivity on campuses nationwide, said Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

He tweeted this today in response to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s request to prioritise the issue.

Fahmi said he has contacted Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin about the main problem, which is fixed-line broadband at university buildings and student hostels.

Tagging Khaled, MOHE and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission in his tweet, Fahmi said the agencies will work on the matter immediately.

Earlier today, during the “Temu Anwar” programme at Universiti Utara Malaysia in Kedah, Anwar requested that Fahmi’s ministry prioritise facilitating better internet connectivity on university campuses across the country.

Anwar said good internet access at universities is a basic and important requirement that should be duly provided.

“Over the past few months, at Universiti Teknologi Mara and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia the matter was raised (as well), so there is already a plan at the Communications and Digital Ministry under brother Fahmi to prioritise all campuses to be equipped with better connectivity,” he said. – Bernama, July 9, 2023.
