PERIKATAN Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday denied allegations that support for his coalition was wavering.

He said the opposite was true and that PN expected to make sweep to victory in the August 12 elections in six states.

Muhyiddin said this in response to PKR deputy president Mohd Rafizi Ramli, who had said that PN had lost the support of voters.

“I would like to say that support for PN remains and is even growing. Who is he to say that? What is the basis and evidence for his allegations?” Muhyiddin said last night at a gathering in Terengganu.

Last week, Rafizi said data showed voter support was waning for PN.

He predicted a fierce contest for Kedah and Kelantan, and a comfortable win for Pakatan Harapan in Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang.

In his speech last night, Muhyiddin, who is also the Bersatu president, said Rafizi’s statement proved that PH was intimidated by PN.

This is especially true in the face of a federal government that has failed to deliver a satisfying performance, he said.

Muhyiddin said PN would win at least five of the six states headed for the polls.

“I am confident that PN can shake Anwar’s government,” he said, referring to the prime minister.

PN enjoyed sweeping support in last year’s general election, winning 73 of the 222 seats in parliament. – July 9, 2023.
