THE Rakan Muda programme reintroduced by the Youth and Sports Ministry is one of the efforts to build the identity of the youth in this country, deputy minister Adam Adli Abd Halim said.

He said the Rakan Muda programme was first introduced in 1994 and has successfully produced a Madani generation that is capable of interacting with society.

“That is why Rakan Muda is being made a flagship programme again because it is suitable to be used as a channel for programmes that the youth are interested in.

“For example, those interested in motorsports can participate in the programme’s Rakan Litar category,” he told reporters after officiating at the state-level National Sports Day celebration in Kangar today.

Also present were state Youth and Sports exco Muhammad Azmir Azizan and Indera Kayangan assemblyman Gan Ay Ling.

Earlier in his speech, Adam said the ministry not only focuses on developing the potential of youth through humanistic initiatives but also prioritises providing comprehensive infrastructures for the benefit of Perlis residents.

This includes upgrading the infrastructure of the Tuanku Syed Putra Sports Complex’s main stadium with a new race track worth RM8 million and allocating RM3.8 million for the construction of a synthetic pitch football field at the complex. – Bernama, July 8, 2023.
