DAP will defend all of its seats in the six state elections to be held in August, said the party’s secretary-general Anthony Loke.
Loke, who is also the Transport Minister, said there were no changes in the number of seats being contested.
“The number of seats (which DAP is contesting) has not changed; we will be contesting all the seats which were won by DAP in the previous elections.
“I have not counted the number of seats, but DAP has 19 seats in Penang,” he told reporters, after presenting driver’s licences, under the MyLesen B2 programme, at a driving school in Balik Pulau today.
Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan will go to the polls on August 12, with nomination day set for July 29 and early voting set for August 8.
In the 2018 general election, DAP won 48 state seats in the six states: 19 in Penang, Selangor (16), Negeri Sembilan (11), and Kedah (2).
On the list of candidates, Loke said their names and the distribution of seats would be announced before the nomination day. – Bernama, July 8, 2023.
