PAS expects to finalise in a week or two its list of candidates for the elections in six states.
Party deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the central leadership will meet this week to decide on the names.
“We asked each constituency to send at least two names. The PAS shura council will vet the candidates’ shariah qualifications, such as whether they have committed major sins or done anything to tarnish the party’s name.
“We want people who are honest and capable of carrying out their responsibilities,” he said at the launch of the Perikatan Nasional election machinery for the Kubang Kerian parliamentary seat in Kota Baru, last night.
Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu will head to the polls on August 12.
Also present were Kelantan Bersatu chairman Kamaruddin Md Nor and Pahang PN chairman Saifuddin Abdullah. – Bernama, July 7, 2023.
