THE Perak government has increased Malay reserve land by 2,409.28ha, comprising government land with high development potential and value.

Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad said with the additional area, there is now 955,587.8ha of Malay reserve land in the state.

He said this decision was made at the state government executive council (MMK) meeting yesterday to ensure the state is at least 50% Malay reserve land.

“The approval of this additional area includes locations in Pasir Panjang Hulu in and Kampung Makmur in the Perak Tengah district, with each area comprising 183ha and 1,102ha, respectively.”

He said the Perak Land and Mines Office successfully negotiated a gazette for an 800ha in Gunung Besout in Batang Padang as additional Malay reserve land.

“The area that has been gazetted represents a ‘wakaf saraan’ to benefit all mosques in the state. This proposal will be presented to the MMK for approval in the near future for us to settle it quickly,” he said. – July 6, 2023.
